Most popular modes of transportation serve the city of Aswan, with trains providing the quickest way overland from big cities such as Cairo. A domestic airport maintains connections with the capital and Abu Simbel while a reasonably reliable road network allows bus users and those in possession of private/rental vehicles to reach the city. Aswan is well connected to other Egyptian destinations with regular services between the city and Luxor, Hurghada and Simbel. Buses can be crowded and aren’t especially tourist friendly; however, they are cheap and an ideal mode of transportation for budget travellers.
