Luxor is a major city and is consequently well served by a number of transportation options. The larger proportion of international visitors arrives via Luxor International Airport while those visitors from neighbouring countries can come by private car or bus. Trains are a popular option for those already in the country wishing to transfer to Luxor. The routes to Luxor from Cairo and other major Egyptian cities are via major highways which are signposted and relatively easy to follow. Driving in Egypt is not for the faint-hearted and foreigners insisting on doing so should exercise extreme caution at all times.
