Fiji enjoys a bizarre mix of the local dialects, Hindi and English, but it’s the latter that is mostly commonly spoken in tourist areas as well as larger towns and cities. English speakers will therefore have little difficulty being understood here although a few phrases of the local language will go down well in tourist areas and will prove particularly useful off the beaten track.
