Right down in southern Jordan, Aqaba occupies the very small area of the country on the banks of the Red Sea, making it a very popular destination for beach and water sports holidays. Al-Hafayer is one of a handful of public beaches in Aqaba, this is one of the most interesting given its usage by locals – many grow crops near the beach and there are great local cafes offering Middle Eastern tobacco pipes and good, inexpensive local food.
