Founded in 790 BC, Fez is the oldest of Morocco's imperial cities. It is famous for the hats of the same name, which originated from here. These days, tourists flock to this culturally rich city to explore the huge and sprawling medieval medina. The old part of the city has been inhabited since the 10th century and is thought to be the best preserved old city in the Arab world.
