Only 40 years ago, Abu Dhabi was still a village where fishing was the predominant activity. Income from oil has transformed it into a glimmering modern city boasting lush green parks and wide, tree-lined boulevards. Parts of the old fishing village are still intact, however, and can be best seen in the Dhow wharf and fish market, located in the north-eastern sector of the city.
